My name is Jennifer Reed and I play on the U17 Mustang Earthquakes. I am doing a service project to fulfill my Girl Scout Gold Award, which is the biggest award in Girl Scouts. My project is to collect gently used soccer gear and donate it to an orphanage in Nicaragua. I will collect all my donations during the Mustang Stampede Tournament.

Please bring any gear you’re willing to donate to the tournament- I will have collection boxes at all the fields.

I would appreciate any help your team could give me!

Thank you,

Jennifer Reed

Girls getting dressed, we’ll be rolling in minutes. They seem rev’d up hopefully a good sign. Watch out Stampede, Go Sporting!!

Game 1 Tie: 2-2 The girls played a great game, the first goal was scored by Surf off of a fast break within a minute of the start. We countered before half time to tie it up. After the half we brought it and lead the game 2-1 for the majority of the second half. With about 40sec to play, LP went up for a header and got the ball, the opposing player came in essentially horizontal and hit her in the face, ending up on the ground. The referee called a penalty against US?!! Surf lined it up and through of comedy of errors including a missed offsides call (photographic proof available on request) Nothing against Surf, everything against the Ref’s. Go Sporting!!

Game 2 Win: 2-0 The game was fairly even up to half time I’d give it 55/45 Sporting (0-0). I’m not sure what Jim gave or said to them at half time, but they played their hearts out. The Colorado girls were crashing and thrashing I even saw one girl HIT our own LP on the back. I think our girls learned their lesson (for the moment) from the first game and brought it! The first goal was off of a corner that was a header from MW to a header HG and GOAL!!! The second score was after AL got trashed at the endline but sent it across the face of the goal and SM lasered it in 2-0!!!

Game 3 Win:4-0 The girls lead 2-0 at half off of an AMAZING header goal by HG and one by SM. Two more goals in the second half one by CS and another by SM made it a 4-0 game. We needed to show the people that do the soccer rankings that Freeze didn’t deserve to be in front of us… We beat them fair and square, head to head.

Quarter Final against Long Beach FC Win:2-1. I have to say the referee tried to do our girls in again. Same guy that centered the Surf Match. There was a 10-15 minute stretch where he called every ticky-tacky, itsy bitsy contact against us. Two of our girls were carried off of the field and no fouls called! Get Better RG & LP. On to the Semi Finals tomorrow. The First goal scored was amazing, CS turned a “Belly Ball” into a “Gut Goal”. Second goal was very pretty thanks again CS. That was the score at half 2-0. Long Beach battled hard and with help from the ref was able to get one on the board. Go Sporting!!

Semi Final against Carlsbad FC Red; Win:2-1. Easily the best referees of the tournament. An excellent match. Play started and went for about 3 minutes when the refs stopped the game and had Carlsbad change to Red Jerseys, what a wise decision. The girls fought hard and were up 1-0 at the half. Carlsbad battled back to tie it early in the second half. We had several opportunities to prevail in the second half but couldn’t get anything to drop in. At the end of regulation we were tied 1-1. We had the kick off in OT, LP split two players passed it to MW on the left wing who sent it in and after one more pass a shot landed in the side of the net. We won, in about 25 seconds! Go Sporting!

Final against the SD Surf White, Loss. The girls fought hard and were completely out of gas by the end, but they never gave up! We are all extremely proud of how well they played the whole weekend. They never gave up after being injured, etc. Clearly they are a great bunch of girls. The pool party afterwords was awesome therapy, Thanks Coach Jim & Stacey for hosting us!! Go

Granted it’s all about the points, but our girls are currently 1 in NorCal and 2 in the Country. We got 2000 points for second @Stampede as opposed to 253 for winning Breakers cup…
