SCHEDULE POSTED

Sponsored by Juventus Sport Club of Redwood City, Northern California Spring Showcase is a Premier level tournament in the GS.com system. There is only one higher level, Premier Elite. It is a “College Showcase” tournament though I’m not sure how much of a look our girls would get being ~6 years from entering college. My guess is the college coaches will focus on the older girls. Besides, if we need them to have a look, we know someone who has been accused of impersonating a college scout. What it does mean, though, is we should have some excellent, skilled competition.

It is the 5th largest (points) tournament for girls in NorCal and will be the weekend of March 5th. Assuming we’re accepted, more details will show up here, stay tuned… It’s official, we have been accepted and there are a total of 10 teams in our bracket.

We have been accepted!! On this page you can see all the other accepted teams in our bracket. Remember we’re playing UP in this tournament (GU13.) The schedule will be/is here. The results will be/are here. If you want to receive results to your phone or e-mail, use this link. Field assignments are not currently out.

The images in the below maps are old enough that they do not show the NEW turf. Catamaran and Sea Cloud both have new turf to the tune of $1.9M. The two soccer leagues AYSO & CYSA each donated to the project as did the city. Catamaran was the more expensive one to install because of all the extra dirt that had to be removed. The track cost a little more too. Sandpiper’s field is new too, just not as new as the other two.

The girls played a great tournament and should be very proud of their showing. Who would have thought that one goal would mean the difference between 1st and 3rd?

MVLA Mercury Black 96

Fairly evenly matched half, excellent play by both teams. Each team had a couple of scoring opportunities, but the defenses prevailed.
Half: 0 – 0
31:01 Score by MVLA
The game continued very evenly matched one of our shots hit the crossbar and bounced down, but not in. (Although after the game one of the MVLA defenders said it went in and bounced immediately out)
Final: 0 – 1
